Once again Lydia has blessed us with a Lenten calendar graced by her lovely illustrations.
We mount it on a piece of purple construction paper, and the little ones color one space each day as we make our way through Lent. They color the spaces to match the liturgical color of the day - usually purple but white for feasts and rose on Laetare Sunday. A visual like this is helpful for all to see our progress on our Lenten journey as we move closer to commemorating Our Lord's passion, and finally His triumphant and glorious Resurrection.

Select 'fit to printable area' when you print it. The file is a bit large (so be patient downloading) but Tech Support wanted to preserve the fine details of Lydia's art work, such as the skull at the base of the crucifix and the two tiny birds snuck into the Easter illustration. Thank you Lydia!
Updated to add: If you are having difficulty downloading the calendar, you might try this lower resolution version:

Also, you can of course leave the calendar black and white for an austere Lenten look if you like, which is what we have done in the past, waiting to color in the little pictures until we get to them in time. But for a different look this year I asked Lydia to color in the pictures ahead of time. If you'd like to print out the colored version, you can get it here: Download Lent 2013 color
