In honor of National Peanut Month I thought I would post on how to make peanut butter. I had never heard of National Peanut Month, but Mary Ellen says it is so it must be true. We have been making our own peanut butter for years now in an effort to avoid the hydrogenated fats and extra sugar of the store-bought variety. It's also cheaper and fresher than the 'natural' kinds you can buy. We buy peanuts in large cans at our warehouse club, and it's also unthinkable to imagine life around here without a steady supply of peanut cans. The peanuts are salted and do have a bit of oil added.
Step 1. Open can of peanuts.
Step 2. Place peanuts in food processor, a little less than half full.
Step 4. Process peanuts using chopping blade. Stop the processor after a minute and let it rest. Repeat until peanut butter is of desired consistency.
Step 5. Place peanut butter in storage container.
Voila! Peanut butter!
LOVE peanut butter, and so easy to make!

How long does this last? Same as store bought natural kind kept in frig? I've always wanted to do this!
