Guess what, my sister Mary Rose got a bodhran (Irish drum) for Christmas.
It's really fun to play; you sort of take this little stick (called a tipper), and strum it like a guitar, while at the same time moving your other hand around inside the drum to vary the tone.
We made a video of some divers songs, in which Mary plays the bodhran, and I play the dulcimer, and Lydia plays harp:
Also there are more videos of other songs, to be seen on my mother's blog, and my sisters' blog.
Check 'em out, they're real nifty.

Quite grand to be able to hear our favorite musicians playing such dandy music from the comfort of our own home!!!

This is truly lovely and takes me back (way back) to a happy vacation on the Emerald Isle.
The pub music was my favorite, I think...or was it the kindness of the locals...or the steaming bowls of Irish stew...or the frosty half-pints of thick & creamy Guinness...or the take-your-breath-away beauty of the land?
Huh. I'll have to get back to you on that, but meanwhile...thank you. You all play beautifully.
