I got this idea a few weeks ago that just popped into my head.
My children are forever drawing all over everything and they are very fond of passing notes to each other in school.
I am also forever wanting to capture some essence of this string of days that is our family life together.
So I thought, what if I just got a blank sketchbook and left it out on the counter for anyone to add to whenever they feel like it.
Quotes from literature and music and quotes from the three year old. Drawings, observations, happenings - whatever strikes anyone's fancy from the silly to the serious to the sublime.
We are all having great fun with this now, and I can only imagine what a treasure it will be years from now. A collective illustrated peek at who we all are at this point in time and what sorts of interesting things sprinkle our days.
Grab a sketchbook and a pen and leave it sitting around invitingly, and see what you get.
As someone wrote on the first page of ours, Dude, this could be an epic book.
Indeed.

This is such a great idea. I want to go to the store this minute to buy one. :)

This reminds me of something I use to have when I was single and living in a house w/ several friends (years ago). We called it "the house book". Nothing too creative in the title but, that book and some that came after it became a treasure.
We have something similar to it now. This time the kids and husband are jotting down their thoughts, prayers, intentions, poems...or sometimes a scribble of a name.
Really, it's a great treasure.

Kimberlee, what a wonderful idea! You know though, you'll have to make multiple copies of it at the end page? Keep it safe and well for it will become a family heirloom over time. Fabulous drawings too, talented family. God Bless!

Went over to Josiah's blog (my children are thrilled with his new posts!) and was very impressed with the "notes" being passed. ;) Kateri's retelling of the Princess Bride is priceless. I love the age of three!
